February in Kashmir

February behaves like January with a slightly longer afternoon by the end of the month. Snow at Gulmarg is still the reason to come. The city is still in pherans and kangris.

If you had to pick one winter month for skiing, February is as good a bet as January and sometimes quieter mid-week. Confirm the lower lifts are running the week you want. A closed phase 2 is normal, not a disaster, if your plan never required it.

Weather

Cold, with snowstorms that can shut the gondola for a day and then leave a perfect morning. Srinagar rain is as likely as city snow.

What to wear

Same kit as January. Add sunglasses. Snow glare on a blue day is not theoretical.

Where to base yourself

Split Srinagar and Gulmarg. A third base wastes a short month.

Questions people actually ask

Is February too cold for parents?

Only if the hotels are vague about heating. Ask that question before you ask about the view. A Srinagar-only February, with one Gulmarg day, is easier than two nights on the meadow.
