Yusmarg is a meadow west of the valley, past Charar-i-Sharif. On a weekday it is one of the calmer high places you can reach from Srinagar without a multi-day permit.
Pine, pasture and a small lake further on at Nilnag. There is no gondola and no filmed-valley entrance. If that sounds dull, go to Gulmarg. If it sounds like the point, this is the day.

A small lake further in. Worth it if you have the afternoon and the energy. Skip it if you are already watching a Srinagar dinner reservation.
